We are a small business making hand-crafted American-made camping yurts. Our story began in 2004 in a basement in New Jersey where we built our first yurt. Born from a growing interest in historical re-enactment and in Central and Eastern Asian cultures, we began taking our yurts to faires,festivals, and reenactment events - and building more yurts.
A gift of light
As our interest in history and craft grew, we were gifted a beautiful Moroccan lantern of metal and glass. The first time we hung the candle-lit lantern on the roof of our yurt and experienced its starry canopy and colored glow - a passion was born. Our shop yurt became a home for lanterns of every kind.
Treasures of the East
This moment drove us to discover the craftspeople that kept the tradition of iron and glass lanterns alive today - a craft that is a blend of African, Persian, European and Indian cultures. Now, we have direct partnerships with exporters and artisans all across Asia to offer unique, small-batch lanterns along with exclusively in-house designed styles.
